Caroline Stockford studied the History of the Turkish Language at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London from 1995 until 2000 when she graduated with a Masters Degree in Turkish. During the course of her degree she studied the Turkish language and runiform alphabet of the 8th century, the Uighur script and language, the Ottoman language of the 14th and 19th centuries as well as the folk literature and 14th century Turkish poetry of Anatolia.

From 1995 until 2000 Caroline was employed in the Turkish Embassy's Economic and Commercial Departments and was in daily contact with the Treasury and other Ministries. A high level of spoken and written Turkish was required for this post. At the same time she began working as a freelance translator working on Government tenders for British companies.

Following her return to Wales in 2000, Caroline began working for the Home Office at Water Street in Liverpool where she acted as an interpreter at Asylum Interviews. Alongside this she worked continuously for the Dyfed Powys Police Force as their on call interpreter throughout Mid and South Wales. During this time she also taught Turkish to beginner and intermediate classes at the University of Wales as well as to private clients.

In 2005 Caroline was employed by the Chamber of Industry in Izmir, Turkey as a translator and followed this by working for the Chamber of Commerce and their museum, translating books and other material.

Upon her return to Wales in 2006 Caroline undertook the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting offered by the Institute of Linguists and achieved a Distinction in Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpreting, a Distinction in Sight Translation and a Merit in Turkish - English Translation.

Caroline currently works as a Freelance Interpreter and Translator for the Police, Immigration, the NHS and many other Governmental and private clients.
